Programs For Food

Programs

Local harvest, in partnership with the state, offers several programs for those in need to receive food. Please read the qualifications and if it seems like the right fit, contact the appropriate agency.

Summer Food Service Program

During the school year over 40% of K-12 students are eligible for free or reduced breakfast or lunch. When school ends for the summer, many children do not have access to the nutritional meals they were receiving in school. The SFSP program provides meals for any child under 18 that qualifies. To find the nearest meal site to you, please contact us or your local county government services.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

The SNAP program provides single people and families with a way to buy food that they may not have due to low-income, being disabled or a senior or out-of-work. The federal program, once called food stamps, bases the amount of money each person or family is given on the number of people in the household and the income and also the rent or mortage payment paid out. To obtain an application form and request information, please contact your local county government services or call 1.844.764.5513.
