Join us for the 35th Annual Sons of Norway Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast
The Nordic American Thanksgiving Breakfast brings people together to offer thanks for the privileges of freedom, faith, family and friends. The event also gives guests an opportunity to give back to the community by supporting two local non-profits, Local Harvest and Minnesota Military Family Foundation.

KARE 11 Food Fight 2019
Join your favorite anchor’s team to support Local Harvest and local families in need.
The KARE 11 Food Fight is back! In 2014 the community rallied behind KARE 11 by donating more than 1.4 million pounds of food to Local Harvest. This year the goal is our largest one-day drive ever – 2 million pounds! Join the competition on Tuesday, November 26 from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm to see which anchor’s team can generate the most pounds to win. Every food pound will be weighed and every $1 donated will generate 4 pounds of food.
Support Your Favorite Anchor Online: Consider making a donation on behalf of a KARE 11 Food Fight Team. Every $1 donated will generate 4 pounds of food. Online donations accepted now through 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 26.
Support Your Favorite Anchor in Person: You can also stop by and say hi to your favorite anchor, and help the team by donating food and monetary donations.

Mario Kart 64 Tournament and Food Drive
Wednesday november 27 from 3:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m.
Join us on Wednesday, November 27th, for a Drinksgiving Evening. We are kicking off the holidays with a Mario Kart N64 Tournament and Food Drive. Players of all skill levels are highly encouraged to enter. Competitors can register to play in person at the bar. We are accepting nonperishable food donations instead of tournament entrance fees and $1 from every Modist sold will be donated to Local Harvest. Come out and play to win some awesome prizes while supporting those in need from the Modist Brewing Company. Participants must be 21 years of age or older to enter.

Hunger doesn’t take to the sidelines and that’s why Vikings wide receiver, Adam Thielen, is teaming up with Hormel Chili to help end local hunger. For every yard Adam gains on the field this season, Hormel will donate a yard of chili (8 cans) to Local Harvest. You can join Adam in the fight to end hunger by visiting our partner site at:

Turkey Trot 5K

Presented by Lifetime, the Invisalign Turkey Day 5K has brought family and friends together to start the day in a healthy way. Walk To End Hunger

Presented by The Mosaic Company, The Walk to End Hunger is a wonderful way for your friends and family to begin your Thanksgiving and help raise meals for our neighbors in need. Each year more than 5,000 walkers join together in the fight against hunger. Be a Hero – Walk to End Hunger. Your participation in the Walk to End Hunger goes directly to supporting people in your community! Registration fees and all dollars raised go directly to the partner organization of your choice. Register to walk for one of our partner organizations, or walk to benefit all 10 equally. Day-of registration opens at 7am on floors 1 and 2 of the East Side of the Mall of America, by SeaLife.

Toys For Tots:
From December 1 through the 15 the Salvation Army is collecting toys for children under age 18 who would otherwise get nothing for Christmas. Please bring any new, unwrapped toy to any Salvation Army, Kowalski’s Market, Luns or the KARE 11 TV station studios.
Community Coat Drive
Beginning December 1 to the 15th the KSTP TV studios along with Sharing and Caring Hands is accepting donations of new or gentley used coats for children of all ages and adults as well as hats, gloves, and scarves. The donations will be sorted by size, washed, and then given out to those in the community that need them.

Let’s Kick Hunger Radiothon
Join us for the 11th annual Let’s Kick Hunger Radiothon! Over the past 10 years, the radiothon has raised more than $2 million towards hunger relief in our community. WCCO Radio, Taste of the NFL, General Mills and Compeer Financial are teaming up again for the fundraiser to benefit Local Harvest, Catholic Charities, Harriet House (women’s shelter), and ACTS (Adult Community Training) thrift. Be sure to tune into 830 AM on January 16, starting at 6 a.m.
